Come join the local group hosted in Newark, NY. We currently host Friday Night Magic events on (you guessed it!) Friday nights. We also play Commander (EDH) on Thursdays at 6pm and have a Magic Freeplay session Sundays from 1-4pm (format is often Commander by popular demand!) Check out our Facebook page for the latest on whether a game is cancelled or if special events are happening, and please join the community group on Facebook, “Magic Players @ White Paw” to chat with other local players! If you’re new to the game, please let us know and we will be excited to set you up with a patient teacher to help you learn!
We also sell a wide variety of MTG cards and related paraphernalia (including single commons, uncommons, rares and mythics), and are also happy to special order items for customers at competitive prices. Why drive all the way to Rochester or Syracuse when you can indulge your hobby right here in Newark?
Finally, we have a variety of snacks available for sale for a variety of diet needs, and are always looking to add new snack types. Feel free to inquire!
Regular play schedule:
Thursday EDH/Commander: join us for a FREE group Commander format game every Thursday at 6pm. Feel free to bring your Oathbreaker decks as many players are testing out this fun format.
Friday Night Magic: Join us at 6pm each Friday at 6pm for a tournament as we rotate each week through a different format, namely Pauper, Modern, Standard, and Pioneer. If you’re not sure which format is this week, you can check out the calendar in our shop window, or online clicking HERE! Please note that you can play for free, but if you want the chance to win some great prizes, including promos just for attending, entry fee is $5 weekly (regular draft $15). Additionally, the shop is open Fridays 12-4, closed from 4-6pm, and reopens at 6pm until 9pm!
Sunday Freeplay: Join us Sundays from 1-4pm. We alternate between Standard/EDH and Modern/Pauper. We encourage players to bring a deck in each of the two listed formats to be sure everyone can play! This is also a great way to test out new decks to prepare for FNM!
PRERELEASES
We host prerelease events for each new Magic the Gathering set! For the latest information including dates and prices to participate, contact us directly or check out our facebook page to stay up to date.
Tournament Policy:
These rules also apply to ALL shop visitors and events! Many thanks to our wonderful players, of whom we have had few rulebreakers, or have very politely complied when reminded of the rule. We love you guys and gals!
1. Cheating and Good Sportsmanship will be monitored and infractions will be taken very seriously.
2. Cussing and inappropriate topics are not permitted. If you can’t say it in a PG 13 movie, please refrain.
3. You may bring and consume outside water or other non alcoholic beverages, but they MUST have securely fitting caps. If they spill, you may be asked to leave the shop on a temporary or permanent ban.
4. Outside food is not allowed to be consumed inside the store. You may eat elsewhere or outside, but trash MUST be placed in trash cans or taken with you.
5. We hold hygiene as highly important for both you and your fellow players’ safety. You don’t have to arrive in a 3 piece suit, but please be recently showered and relatively kempt. Body spray/ perfume is not an acceptable substitute for cleanliness. If you feel you will need to reapply deodorant or change your shirt, we have a large bathroom for your convenience.
6. Please take whatever precautions needed to keep your pants at an appropriate height so that none of your behind is visible. If needed, tie an extra shirt around your waist. We also ask that players refrain from extra low cut necklines.
If any of these conditions are not met, you will be asked to address the issue immediately. Failure to do so will result in a temporary or permanent ban at the shop owners’ discretion. Please respect the shop and your fellow players. Thanks so much to our supportive community for your continued help and cooperation. We are officially registered with the Wizards Play Network and host weekly FNMs and sanctioned tournaments in addition to casual games and have full prize support!
